I know things have been quiet on the blog last week or so but a lot on. I was sick which is bad. A group of Americans arrived and I have hosted them and made sure their visit is going well. Finally I got turfed out of my house. I was told at ten p.m that I needed to be out of my house by ten a.m the next morning. The building I live in is actually owned by my Church. A close partner in ministry lives next door and the Church and the Office are all here as well.
The funeral was a traditional South Pacific type. They run usually around 5 days and go 24/7. People turn up all hours of the day and night and pay respects and there is up to 100 people visiting at a time. All most be shown the proper amount of hospitality. The cooking pot was big enough for me to sit in. They were bringing in various cookers and potatoes by the 25 kilo bag. I have never seen so much food in my time and I have been to some big occassions. They sing and talk all through the night. It is all about the greaving process. If you ever get the chance to see a Polynesian Funeral it is fascinating insight into the culture. And I will never complain abotu a long funeral again.
So it was best that I take a wee holiday to my sister's place. My nephews thought it was cool that uncle visited.
I got a lot more sleep than I would have at home.
