Prince Then Pauper!!

The world continues to surpise me with the seemingly ever increasing dichotomy that slap me in the face. Take a recent day for me. I was looking after several gigs and running around like a mad thing and time was fleeting.

One of the gigs had a very high profile performer involved. Now the general rule in my game is to be warm and friendly as much as you want with the support crew. But the "talent" should almost be avoided and never spoken to unless spoken to first. Friends and family are sometimes amazed at the almost stand offishness of the situation. But when you put it into the view of the "talent" they don't wish to be annoyed or interupted by any tom, dick or chops.

But this talent was different and very much totally bipolar to a colleague of his I met last year. This one was very warm and friendly and very approachable. In the process of setting up asked many questions and shared jokes which totally surprised me. Even was nice enough to laugh at some of my jokes which was very cool. If this guys was one of the kings of his field he made me feel like a prince.

So after a long and rewarding shift where all involved in my events were very happy. I felt like I had accomplished some good and contributed to the success of the evening. It was brought to a crushing thud!! I was getting changed out of my super hero action suit into my civvies. But we had run out of coat hangers to hang my uniform on. So I had to put 3/4 of my body into a tilted wheelie bin which had other stuff than the coathangers in it.

The dichotomy was pretty deafening. But there was no way you could wipe the smile off my face.
