I will Fall to my Death and you don't care!!! It is all about the entertainment and no one considers my safety!! You don't seem to give a flying toss about my safety and the fact that I could fall and break my neck!! It was loud and it just kept going on and on. It gentle reader was not a very rare thing but was the rant of a Grande Artiste. We had a charity show for poor unfortunate kiddies to bring the kiddies a little glimmer of excitement in their poor pathetic lives.
We were already running over time for before the doors were to open and I was checking with the tour manager to make sure all was good when I heard the rant. It just went on and on and did not seem to abate very easily. I sent you people my technical requirements for a reason!! When you booked me well not you but your booking person did i emphasised how important this was. You don't care if i DIE!! I started to wonder what complicated trapeze or hanging from the rafters we were yet to witness. I also thought I should share this incident with the safety guy who was present on this occassion. I guess when the inquest came and they asked me if I knew of any safety concerns I would say yes and I notified the safety guy.
The Grande Artiste began to rehearse theri was no raising him to a suicidal height or anything crazy like that. He was elevated all right I will concede. He was elevated onto the bike seat he was riding. It was all because he could fall off a bicycle!! I admit that one could do a bit of damage whilst falling off a bicyle and the fact that you are on a stage also means you could fall a little bit further. But ones death just seems a little bit of a leap. I managed to witness the show a bit and witness this death defying act. It was perfectly fine and his meaningless death was avoided and we all live to fight on another day.
