Then a few days after the first meal we met a friend of the Lovely One's whom she had met on one of her adventures overseas. This friend has lived in New York City and works for a company that is huge in it's field. They are so big that you probably have heard of them somewhere along the line. This friend we will call Stable.

Stable is very bright and engaging and very easy to talk to. Which being in her line of business is kinda essential. Stable is between jobs and about to start her new job. So it was time for her to sojourn to the Land of Chops. She had been cruising around the great barrier reef and those sort of places and was in Chops Town for just the day and night before she flew out again.

The plan was to walk through the local parklands with the beach inside it and then off to a restaurant that serves native ingredients in ways you have never seen before. But that plan went to the wayside pretty darn quick when I checked the radar weather thing and there was rain everywhere. So we met Stable at her hotel. We had a little bit of small talk. She then informed us that she was taking us out to dinner as that was the thing to do in New York. I was expecting a nice night out at Pizza Hut. But Stable had been doing her research and suggested we eat at Pseudo (not it's real name). I attempted to contain my excitement. I had always wanted to eat at Pseudo. It is known very publicly as one of the best restaurants in town. But it adds up pretty quick and I know if I ever attempted to spend that much on a meal the Lovely One would declare her opinion pretty quickly. For some strange reason the concierge did not of Pseudo which I found totally unbelievable.

We managed to get a booking at late notice. We were sat beside the window but on seeing the open kitchen Stable asked if we could move closer to the kitchen. I agree that the life of a restaurant is the kitchen, it can be quite a dramatic place so full of energy and tension.

The room is quite understated with all the lighting reflected off the walls or roof so there is no direct light. It's not dim but very affective. The background music is perfect for the whole situation. It was mainly the work of a local band that I know and love. It's jazzy yet rocky tones just suited things really well.

The menu had 4-5 choices in each category. The prices were all the same in that category. Being committed foodies it was quickly decided that we would each get a dessert and a main and share a entree. The moreton bay bugs with cucumber lime and coriander was the winner. My goodness the bug was the best bug I have ever had. It just melted on the palate and the salad and dressing was just such a good package together. We also shared a bowl of chips and aioli. When I first discovered aioli it was a life changing thing and remains that way.

For mains I had the lamb rump with tomato and olives and garlic mash. The rump was so tender and the sauce and garlic mash just married together so effectively. I had a taste of the Lovely One's Dory which was also splendid with a potato and caper mash and a creamy sauce. Stable also offered a taste of her Wagyu. I am a little sick of the hype wagyu gets. But it was deserved this day as it was magnificent.

The desserts were also pretty tops. My mango tart with macadmaia ice cream was pretty special. Stable's peach frozen soufflé and other peachy goodness were so very good. The Lovely One's yoghurt cake was good and very light but the weakest of the desserts. The night was pretty darn cool. I am very glad for the opportunity and enjoyed it with excellent company.

Till Next Time Anyone Else Wish to Dine Out With Me?,
