This week saw the playing of that great American tradition of the Dessert Plate (not it's real name). Usually my friends and I get together at 9 in the morning and party all day till like 5 pm. We don't like the coverage of the our local carrier so we tape the game. We then proceed to eat and swim and play the computer game version of the Dessert Plate. We make our predicitions for the game and then we watch the game and fast forward the bits we don't like.
This year was different. Happy our normal host has moved to the wilds of Canberra. The rest of my posse: Chicken Man, Lion and the Police State either had other commitments or were on there honeymoon or now also live in a different party of the state. Last year I watched with my friend mr lover lover but he has started work two days a week with one of those days being Monday!!
So I awoke early and grabbed the fixins required for a good Dessert Plate party. I got the ingredients for the Hotdogs including Cheese and Bacon. I also procured the closest thing I could get to root beer and some brownies.
I got back just in time for the kick off. I then watched the game by myself and ate myself till fullness. It was a pretty good game except my time were given some pretty sucky calls from the refs. We also made some very silly choices which cost us pretty much the game. But it was pretty good all in all.
The half time extravaganza was pretty extravangant. It is sad what my job has done to me as I sat there trying to figure out how they got the stage out there so quick and was pretty stable and without damaging the surface. Plus all the lights and such were connected. Pretty cool I thought. Not sure if we could that off so quickly at the House of Chops.
