Last night saw the unveiling of the 11th Dr Who (actually 12th as everyone forgets Peter Cushing). I must say that I was totally underwhelmed by the event - sorry Lemly!
Personally I think that they need to improve the writing in order to save the enterprise. There are too many low quality episodes at the moment. I like the idea of Stephen Moffat heading the writing team, I'm a great lover of Coupling, and hope that the qulaity control will improve. Please don't inflict another Daleks in Manhatten episode with the pig slaves or the cyber sheep(?) in this Christmas' special.
I love Dr Who but, like Heroes, it has tended to wander slightly. Sometimes the writers just seem to be trying to be to clever by half; this is what kills great TV. We don't want to return to the long, slow death that originally led to the demise of the previous incarnation. No matter how much the BBC would like to deny it, things went downhill with the arrival of Peter Davidson, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy.
