The Cougar is a member of the cat family and is native to North America. It is not a domesticated member of the cat family. It is also known as a Puma to some people but there are definite differences in size and power to those who have a knowledge of such things. We have adopted a larger member of the family - a definite Cougar.
They are renowned for combining the ability to produce power at short notice but are also able to travel long distances while maintaining a surprisingly energy efficient gait. They need to consume less than you may imagine in order to do this.
As you can see from the picture the Cougar is a surprisingly agile animal for its size and is able to catch and pass smaller prey. It looks slightly cumbersome and is therefore able to surprise unknowing prey.
