Sunday Morning

Well, sermon 3 seemed to go down well. How you can tell this while preaching is very difficult. When you look out over the congregation and see a sea of apathy gazing back, its very hard to judge how things are going. For my next one at the end of November I'm thinking of wiring each chair up to the National Grid, maybe 20,000 volts will achieve some reaction.

However a few people did tell me after the service that they appreciated what I said and that I made it easy to understand. Even the Mrs liked it. She'd always tell me if I'd something horrendous, if only to laugh about it. However we must remember that Christianity is not a laughing matter. There is no place for humour in the modern church.

What really worried me though was being told by Pastor Chugabug that God would definitely be changing my carrer path shortly. The preaching is getting better but its that pastoral side that I'd need to work on, as its always the hardest. My life flashed before my eyes....

My first kids talk seemed to go well. Even if people couldn't make out my drawing and point out the deliberate flaws it contained. I was told off for telling one of the boys that the moon is indeed made of cheese and that, no matter what people tell him, its a fact.

The scientists and engineers among you may dispute this but I'd point out that there is proof of this:

1. Its an old wives' tale handed down from parent to child across generations;
2. Wallace & Gromit proved this to be true after visiting the moon in A Grand Day Out;
3. There has been no incontrovertible scientific proof otherwise. This is especially true as NASA faked the moon landings. My sister actually believes this bit.

In addition I think that kids should be allowed whatever innocence they still have for as long as possible. Life's hard enough without adults making it worse.
