There is a story in this week's Time magazine that caught my eye, mainly 'cos it was the last one.
It appears that the Catholic church have revised another part of their teaching and on this one I think its about time. They have recommended that they do away with "Limbo". This is the place where unbaptised infants went after death. Limbo is the church's version of brunch; its not heaven and its not hell but, unlike brunch, does not come with a slice of canteloupe at the end.
There is no biblical basis for this part of theology. St Augustine said that all such unbaptised children were automatically denied entry to heaven and therefore ended in hell. No one who believes in the God shown to us by Jesus could ever believe that this could happen.
In an attempt to reassure parents the church therefore devised Limbo.
Maybe this will lead to the Catholic church revising their stance on purgatory as well. Its always seemed odd to me that a soul would wait there, hoping for the living to pray its way into the kingdom. This was always a good money making policy for the church but not in keeping with the teaching of Christ.
On a more humourous note....
Have you ever noticed that you can see things but never notice them?
My dad has been asking me where his extension lead is. He had it at our flat but doesn't know where it is now. Likewise his step ladder.
While talking to my mum tinight I noticed a yellow coil behind the TV cabinet - hello extension lead. Its only been there 2 months.
Dad also asked for his step ladder. Me, can't think where it is. FW says, "You've been hanging the towel on it in the kitchen for the last 2 months".
