Judge not, lest you be judged

In unrelated news.....

Judge Roger Davies was outed by The People in 2003 for phoning gay chat lines. He was allowed to quietly resign as the Department of Constitutional Affairs held their investigation.

The People were outraged and quoted the Lib Dem Home Office Spokesman as saying: "It's a whitewash. The system is trying to cover up". Congratulations to Mark Oaten for providing them with this quotation.

The one thing I live about politicians is the way in which they can be so two faced about everything. We have ministers resigning for no reason - some not once but twice. Then there are others who blatantly lie but refuse to admit it, even when faced with conclusive evidence.

It doesn't matter which party it is, they are all the same. Maybe its proof that we're all human and have the same weaknesses. Its just that they have far more people scrutinising their activities than we do.

Its the same with the press. They are allowed to drag people through the mud but when it happens to them scream for privacy.

It was an open secret that Charles Kennedy had a drink problem. He may have denied it but the stories were there, its just that people chose to stay quiet pending concrete evidence.

Simon Hughes was believed to have skeletons in his "closet", pun intended, but chose to keep his private life that way until The Scum had proof.

Yet both men lied about things when questioned directly. Paxman asked both men about their hidden secrets and both declined to admit them.

Now I agree that we should not judge others when we have things to hide. We're all human and all have our secrets. I'll admit that I do.

However there are times when we have a right to expose hypocrosy. A person's right to privacy should be a fundamental thing but that does not mean that we cannot expose injustice or wrongdoing when it occurs. Some things need to be brought into the open and some things should remain private.

Yet where do we draw the line?
