Great piece on the BBC website yesterday by Steve Tomkins on the Hillsong church in London. You can find the story at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4677440.stm

It seems that the London branch of Oz For Jesus meets at the Dominion Theatre on a Sunday. So you get one of Ben Elton's "musicals", in this case We Will Rock You, 6 days a week and then Rock For God on a Sunday.

Personally I think that any rhing that attracts young people to commune with God in a way that is relevant to them is a good thing. There is nothing that says that you can only have praise and worship in a church, as the article makes clear.

One of the best things about the article is the views of readers shown underneath. Most are positive though there are the ones by people who hate religion of all kinds and some regarding tithing.

Why do non-Christians always seem to be concerned wherever this is mentioned? There is nothing saying that you have to give 10% or else. Its is always a voluntary offering. Not everyone has 10% of their salary free to dispose of.

I think that I'll drag First Wife along to a service one Sunday when we finally get a weekend of leisure in London. We may not find it as enjoyable but it'll definitely be a change from the norm.
