This afternoon saw the introduction of First Wife to the youth group and what a wonderful event is was for me...
With Fairtrade Fortnight fast approaching we thought it was time to begin the preparation for the service we're planning with the kids to mark the event. We decided on a gentle sampling of Fairtrade items, such as Geobars, Ginger & Chocolate Cookies and Orange Juice. We managed to get their attention and they happily absorbed the information provided.
It was great to begin by introducing Gem to First Wife, in front of everyone else. The look of embarrassement as I pointed out that Gem was the one who loved to say "Don't wish your wife was hot like me etc" and First Wife said thanks for the tile that had been made last time. Gem went a very nice shade of crimson.
First Wife liked the kids and they liked her too.
Another funny happening was Techy Boy pointing out that by eating certain things you were partaking of items grown in horse or cow manure. His attempt to gross everyone out failed when I pointed out the the vegetables he ate every day were grown with this natural additive.
Now we have to plan our Fairtrade events to gain some support in the church and outside as well.
