As I am a great hater of made up holidays/celebration days, I am of course very much against things like St Valentine's Day.

This has led to problems in previous years as some people fail to believe that I am serious in my dislike of events created, or perpetuated, purely to part me from my hardearned dosh.

FW now understands my abhorence of St Profit of Florist's Day and we have come to a mutually agreeable compromise. I ignore it and she tells me off.

Therefore, as I was "working from home", in preparation for tonight's West Ham match on TV (current score 3-0), FW handed me an envelope.

Being fully aware that I don't like commercial rubbish, I found that she had made me a card showing "The Lobster of Love" to mark today being the feast day of St Crustacean. He was the St martyred by a mob of Orthodox Jews for eating prawns and crabs on the Sabbath. These of course being non-Kosher.

For those of a non Christian Orthodox background you can find the story in the first letter of St Carcinus to the church at Homarus. It is a short but very moving letter. However you will need to read it in the original Gamarus to obtain the true majesty.
