Onward and Upward

First of all....

Congrats to the Ozzies for their outstanding win yesterday. It was great to see 3 goals scored so quickly by a team that would normally be lieing around with beer and eating at barbies. Also good that they thrashed England in the rugby on Sunday.

To answer Yay's question: The car dried out very quickly yesterday. Within the hour it was dry and ready for driving.

Yesterday evening was spent watching the plucky Ghanaians giving the Italians a scare. While doing this I was flicking back andfor to The Simpsons, you don't want to overdo your footie watching to soon.

After that I decided to start putting the results of the Chapel's recent Review together. I've started wading through the 13 survey replies and putting them into some sort of order. In addition I'll then have to go through the results of the away day and work those in.

We should then have the basis to begin putting a plan together for the future. Our biggest problem is likely to be finding people willing to do things to move us onwards. Like any church you always find that you have to few people doing the work and to many sitting back waiting for things to happen.

We have began to see that part of the inertia lies in the way jobs are handed out. There are to many occasions when people are "volunteered" for things. Mostly without being told until the last minute. Several times I've found that people have been told that I will do things before I'm even asked.

Then we have a lot of people waiting for someone to take the lead. Had I not started the review process and prepared the survey and arranged the away day, nothing would have happened.

We have launched the first prayer group this week. FW and two of the deacons have begun a weekly prayer group. This is a big area of neglect in our fellowship. Hopefully we can slowly begin to expand on this.

I'm hoping that we'll soon be able to launch the first house group as well. This would be open to anyone, whether associated with our chapel or not. Hopefully this would be organised away from the estate the chapel was on to begin support for the people who live elsewhere in Oldrum.

On another note:

The High Priestess of Sport Hating from Swansea appears to have struck in Russia....

More than 70 Russian police responded to reports of a gang fighting in a field near Rostov-on-Don. They arrested 100 people before discovering that they were playing rugby. The men were reprimanded for not informing the authorities and released.
