Give Us Your Money

It was a very relaxing weekend. We did very little, apart from build a new chest of drawers.

Best Man came over on Saturday. We watched a match and then he cooked us a meal. FW was happy as it gave her a rest for the evening.

Sunday was spent at Chapel in the morning. As this was our proper Anniversary weekend we launched our Jubilee Fund. We have discovered that the chapel needs some major work to repair bits but, more importantly, to make it fit for the next 50 years. FW had spent a half hour preparing the leaflets to announce the fund.

We arrived to find Chugabug waiting to see them. She ws somewhat surprised on seeing the amount needed. Even though it had been announced at the Church Meeting in November that we needed to spend this much money, it evidently didn't sink in.

She though we were raising 10k and was somewhat surprised to see that the figure was actually 30k. That's Pounds Sterling and not those mickey mouse currencies that other countries seem to use. That's a lot of wonga, diniero, spondulics etc.

Chugabug had wanted to raise this at our Friday do. The fact that we would have had about 30 non-attenders there didn't seem to matter. Would you really invite people to celebrate such an event and then ask them for money?

So far the best suggestion for raising funds has been the filling of Smartie tubes with 20p pieces. Each tube should hold about £7. That means we only need 4286 tubes to be filled ;-) Then again, it is a test of faith for a congregation of about 30-35 to raise that much money. It would need about 3 times our normal offering just to achieve this, without paying the minister, utility bills, repairs etc.

However there are plans afoot.....
