Yesterday was spent "working from home" while watching the Troublesome Trucks at their sports day. This was Shouty Boy's first school sports day and he took part with 3 parts vigour and 2 parts grumbling, well that's what it looked like when he was sitting between races.
He came 3rd in the Potato and Spoon race. There was much cheering from many of the other children and his dad was evidently proud at his son's popularity.
It turns out that he is playing football with the year 6 boys everyday. How they accomodate a 5 year old I don't know but he evidently fits in. This announcement was met with disbelief by my parents and Stroppy Lad had to confirm: "He does you know, he does!"
He had a slip in the Bean Bag & Bucket race, after starting well and got tangled up in the hoop on the obstacle race.
Stroppy Boy finished 2nd in the sprint and made respectable showings in his other events. His House also won the team competition with almost 50% more points than the 2nd placed House.
I must admit that it was well worth spending time watching it. I can't wait for next year now.
