Releasing The Past

This weekend I realised that my life has now permanently changed. This came to me on Saturday afternoon.

I have managed to survive for 41 years without turning into a subjugated human being. Now I find I'm on that irreversible slope to oblivion and death. How did I come to this conclusion, you ask?

FW and I spent Saturday morning doing almost nothing. Then we went into Oldrum for a wander and to have lunch in "our" little Italian cafe. We had absolutely nothing planned for the day. It was to be OUR day, with no outside calls on our time, or my patience.

The only thing I HAD to do was prepare for Sunday's deacon's meeting. I needed to put the results of our Church Awayday into a form readable by others. By this I mean translating the management speak of the person who led the Outreach section. What does "levaraging our outreach philosophy" mean?

So, FW wanted us to go for a drive as the weather was cloudy but bright. No problem for me. We had no idea where we were going though. Then inspiration struck. Near us is a World Heritage Site, we could go past there, then down the twisty road with the spectacular views of bald sheep (that's for you Sis!) and the Brecon Beacons, truly a slice of heaven on earth.

So we did.

On our way back I felt like a cuppa, as one does at 4 in the afternoon. So we meandered down the valley and called in Crow Town. That's when things went wrong. Our first stop was not a cafe but a small shopping area. We looked in the furniture shop (possible dining table and second sofa bed); the tile shop (possible bathroom foor & wall tiles); then B&Q for possible lights, patio furniture and garden shed (for next year).

See, that's where my life ended!!!

I did what all those other married people do. I looked at house things! I voluntarily entered furniture, tile and DIY shops!

Now I've joined the ranks of the Great Unwashed. Joe Public. The Average Man. Before you know it I'll be having dinner parties, talking about house prices and the cost of our local council tax.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
