Just got back from the doctors. We've agreed that I start back to work on Monday. I can't say that I'm looking forward to it but it has to be done. We've also agreed that the best course of action is for me to find a job with another company nearer to home. As such I've started looking already; I'm that motivated to go!!!
Yesterday we took the youth group to Cardiff to go ice skating. Thankfully FW and I are not compatible with ice skating. I don't think my knees could take the punishment anymore. See, there are benefits to being 40+
Everyone had a great time. One lad was worried about going on as he was going away in the next week and was worried that he'd injure himself. As it was he managed very well for a first timer. Yes he fell over but it never stopped him.
One of the girls was a complete show off. She'd skate past waving or spinning as she went. Well we all know the old saying: pride comes before you hit your butt on the ice.... Well she did, in quite spectaculary fashion. FW was taking pictures and short video clips on her digital camera. Said girl rushes off to do one of her spins and thus being immortalised on film. She does a circuit, turns the corner spins and....... collapses in a heap on the ice. Not only did I laugh but I had difficulty stopping.
However revenge was soon to follow.
I was talking to her brother on the side. I was looking down at the camera when he suddenly flew forward and hit my eye with his shoulder. One of the other girls had flown headlong into him and pushed into me.
So, even a spectator can be injured watching others ice skate.
The skating was followed by an argument over where to eat lunch - McD's or Burger King. I was holding out for BK but most of the kids wanted to go to McD's. As we had several adults it was decided to split them between the two. How I hate McD's and everything it stands for. At least BK tastes of meat and fresh salad.
