A Relaxing Week Off

Yesterday turned out to be a busy day, exactly what you want to finish off your week off.

I had 2 shipments that needed to be finished in the morning. This was completed by lunchtime. Then I had an enquiry from my customer in Ireland to move an aircraft engine to the US this weekend. I was secretly hoping that this wouldn't come off as FW and I were due to go to Swansea to celebrate Marmite's 5oth birthday.

So FW went out to do her midterm test and I made my lunch. I got back to the computer desk, put my lunch down and, just about to pick-up my first piece of dunking bread, Che jumps into my lap looking for some fuss. So I dutifully stroke the cat.

Then something falls behind the monitor. Cat does startled creature act, kicks out his back legs and...... knocks over my Minestrone soup. Soup is now splattered over the wall, over the shredder, on the floor and the bowl has smashed.

Cue louds shouts of words from me. Cat now has several new names he didn't have before such as *********, **************, and ***************************************************.

I start clearing up, cursing under my breath. Cooks a new tin of Baxters Minestrone soup and settles down to eat. Cat is looking at me sheepishly from the settee as I cook.

Time is ticking. No word from my customer. The airline want to release the space on the aircraft and I want to be sure that we're ready to go when FW returns.

At 16:00 the customer rings and wants to book the freight. I now have 45 minutes to book the freight, secure a truck to collect the engine on Saturdday morning, receive and check the paperwork and arrange the customs clearance. FW could be home at anytime and be ready to go.

FW walks through the door at 16:45. Everything has just been completed and I'm almost ready to go, after a sit down and a cuppa.

In the meantime I remember some things I'd wanted to do:

1. Get my hair cut
2. Buy some new shoes
3. Take washing to launderette
4. Clean car

Ah well, I thought, there's always tomorrow. But that's another story.
