Green Leadership

There was a story in The Times of London yesterday concerning Climate Change.

The EU are about to have one of those grand conferences where the heads of state gather to gather for a few nice meals, a chat and a photo-op. They may or may not actually decide on anything constructive as they'll all be trying to protect their self-interests or obtain more money to pay for some grandious new scheme.

This time they're discussing the EU response to Climate Change. This is, of course, led by the UK's very own King of Green - Tony Bliar. There is no one in the world who is more environmentally friendly than "our Tone". He is the person who has taken an international lead on this, especially with his "special" friend Goerge Dubbya.

So what did the item have to do with this?

The British government has indeed taken the lead and set an example on how to tackle greenhouse gases. They done this by a very clever method..... they've actually increased their output of CO2. Yes, the people who tell us, and everyone else, that we need to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle are actually doing the opposite.

They want to hit us with "environmental" taxes that do not actually get used to help the environment but not actually do anything constructive to lead by example. We will be penalised for putting the wrong plastic in the recycling but no one will do anything to them - the government have crown immunity.

Please don't start a written petition about this; you'll just waste paper. Don't bother writing or e-mailing, as they won't listen.

Just bear it in mind when the next election comes along and vote for an alternative party instead - not necessarily the one I support.

There is a good story on the BBC website showing what happens to your recycled rubbish. You can find it at http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6238105.stm
