Visitors & New Work

Yesterday saw the visit of The Dark Queen and her minion. It was good to see them again and for them to visit Chez T&E.

I must say that she was none to annoyed when I turned on the TV to watch either the Grand national or the Cricket. As we had visitor I granted her minion the option of the sport that we would watch. He chose the cricket, so we got to see South Africa v New Zealand.

Do you remember how, at the end of meals, Victorian ladies would retire to leave the men to their cigars and brandy? Well I've found that sport can offer the same function. As we watched the cricket FW & Dark Queen retired to the "office" to keep Che company and to look at cat photos. That left Minion and I to watch cricket and talk. This is something that we've never really had the opportunity to do before and I must say that it was very enjoyable.

Therefore I offer thanks to Dark Queen for being gracious enough not to complain at our choice of viewing. I'm also looking forward to seeing them again soon. Would the 18th May be ok for you guys? We have a little pub/restaurant to try out at the bottom of the road for lunch...

This morning we attended our morning chapel. It was communion today and one of the deacons was leading the service. We've discovered that this chapel does not have a permanent minister but has a good number of deacons and visiting preachers to call on.

During the notices we were told about a young lad who'd knocked on the Secretary's door this morning to say that he'd won an award for bible knowledge in school. She put this down to his attendance at Thursday Club that they'd recently run with the help of some American visitors. He then asked when the Thursday Club would start again.

Have you guessed what's coming next?

Unfortunately, there is no one in the chapel able to run the club. Therefore members were asked if anyone felt able to take this on, or knew of anyone who would.

Have you guessed now?

So, I was looking forward to a few months of R&R. Evidently God has other plans.
