We've Returned

We returned from our travels last night. I must say that we had a great time. Driving lets you see so much more of the countryside from Calais to Amsterdam. The weather was absolutlely perfect. We drove with the roof down from leaving last Monday to leaving the ferry on our return yesterday.

We finally got the car back at 15:00hrs last Monday. A lot of the work I'd wanted hadn't been done, thankfully it was only cosmetic and not essential. They couldn't even tell that I was annoyed when I was making impatient noises and saying that we had to be in St Albans for 17:00hrs. It is a good 2.5 hour drive from home to the hotel.

We rearranged our meeting with Kay and finally got to St Albans at 19:00hrs. Thankfully the M25 (Britain's biggest car park) was clear and we managed to get around very quickly. In fact the slowest part of the journey was the link from the M4 to the M40 via Maidenhead. This took us 40 minutes.

Monday evening was spent with my friend Kay, who we hadn't seen since November. She is one of my oldest and most valued friends. She took us to Waggamamma's for dinner, a very good noodles/Asian restaurant. I must say that it was a great meal.

The hotel we stayed in was once the administration offices for a Mr Ryder. He is the person who donated the Ryder Cup that the US and Europe fight over in golf. Just thought I'd add a bit of history to the blog.

I'm sure I'll write more about the holiday soon. We still have to visit the Troublesome Trucks later today. However FW is not feeling to great at the moment so I'm just off to offer to make lunch.
