Goodbye and Good Riddance

Today has been the day I've been waiting for for several years. At last we are rid of Tony Bliar. All we need now is for Gorgan Braun to go as as well and I'll be rejoicing from the rooftops.

I'm not a Labour Party supporter by a long way. However I was hoping that we'd have a change after the 16 years of a Conservative government. The promise had been there that they were going to do things differently to everyone else. Sleaze would be a thing of the past and we were promised an "ethical" foreign policy.

Looking back over 10 years I fail to see the great improvement in the country that they claim to have made. The health service is in a total mess; the Environment Department are killing our agricultural industry; the prisons are overcrowded; our Immigration Service is in disarray and education, education, education is not improving but seems to be going backwards.

We've taken part in 2 wars that are still going on 6 years later, with no sign of an end. We are being taxed more than ever and the money seems to be thrown away in Private Finance Initiative deals that are pushed on us regardless of their true value. Not even the Conservative Party thought that PFI was a good idea as it did not hand the risks over to the private contractors but just inflated the costs to the taxpayer.

So I'd just like to say that Tony's Legacy is safe. He will be remembered as the longest serving Labour Prime Minister in history. However he will not be credited with any real achievements that will have a really lasting effect on the UK after his departure. Maybe Ireland but then they seemed to be willing to bury their differences in order to get back at him.
