I finally managed to set up our friend's broadband connection today. As I told FW it had to be something simple and it was. I'd tried everything from reinstalling to shouting loudly and swearing under my breath. Then we discovered that it was the telephone extension lead.
The solution was simple - buy a 5m extension and run the DSL cable direct from the downstairs socket to the router upsatirs. Why BT hadn't supplied a wireless router I don't know. It would have been farless stressful and would have saved me 2 days. Now we have another 2 people online.
When I met Mrs Broadband on my first visit I thought that I'd recongnised her but didn't know where from. I thought it was just from one of dad's choir concerts and thought nothing of it. Today I discovered that she was the lady in the Cwmbran Christian Bookshop. Suddenly it all clicked into place.
