Well, I'm into day 3 and still no chocolate. However I did have a slice of home made strawberry sponge cake last night. I'd missed the house BBQ at my lodgings on Tuesday but they'd saved some cake for me instead. Mmmmmmm.

NO, I WILL NOT GIVE UP THE OCCASIONAL CAKE. NO, I TELLS YAH! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Whatever happens certain things are still inviolate; monthly cigars, whisky, real ale, low fat pate and Uncle in-law's honey. All these things are essential to the life of a T&E. Mind you I do try to ensure that I only have these things in moderation. In fact I haven't had a cigar for 3 months - I'll rectify that on the way home this afternoon.

I firmly believe that you should do everything you can to minimise things that could lead to making my illness worse. However there does come a certain point where giving everything you love up really affects your life for the worse. If life's not enjoyable why live it?

I also found today that taking Metformin, the main treatment for Type 2 diabetes, for long periods can lead to kidney damage. So if your lifestyle don't get ya, the meds will.
