Good news my friend.

The fragarant Ms Kylie Minogue is starring in the Dr Who Christmas special this year. Yes, the scrumptious young Ozzie will have a "major" starring role. Hopefully we'll actually recognise her and they won't disguise her under alien make-up.

Yesterday we attended the prayer meeting at our church that they hold on a Monday evening. This is used to pray for the mission work carried on throughout the valeey for the youth. At the end the members of our chapel stay to pray for the work undertaken there.

A youth meeting is being organised in Blaenavon for the middle of July. We were shown a leaflet advertising the event that was circulated to some organising people. I was a little taken aback by the last line:

PLEASE: remember that not all the churches you contact will be gospel teaching churches.

Now I maybe a little naive on this point but I have never singled out other churches based on the type of Christianity they preach. We do not know what lies in the "heart of man" and have no right to judge others against a set of rules cooked up by individual churches or their members.

If someone has taken a practical step in accepting Jesus as their saviour then that it good enough for me, regardless of denomination. I have been to evangelical services where I have been disgusted at the attitude portrayed by individual speakers. I have also been to Anglican, Methodist and Baptist churches where God has hardly featured in their teachings.

No wonder we can't act together as the Body of Christ. We have all the organs and body parts fighting amongst themselves. This is the one thing that turns off outsiders who look at Christianity. Can you really be surprised that people consider themselves Christians but won't darken the door of a church?

The other thing that bugs me is the teachings of pre-ordination and pre-destination. I can't reconcile these with the God I worship. Neither can I see any evidence, other than St Paul, to back this up.

I do not believe that He has chosen some to be saved and leaves others to spend eternity cut off from Him. If this is so then why bother sending Jesus to die for ALL our sins. I see nowhere where Jesus says that only a certain section of humanity is chosen.

I can believe in a certain amount of pre-destination but not to the extent that every step of our lives is set out in concrete for us to follow. God gave us free will, it is therefore our choice as to whether or not we follow Him and accept His calling.

I do believe that God has things that He'd like us to do for Him. Unfortunately we don't always hear the call or follow His direction. Sometimes He whispers and sometimes He has to use a sledgehammer to show us what He wants from us.

My I didn't expect all that to come out. Strange thing this blog writing business.
