Today has been full of excitement and hard work. Well, except for the excitement and hard work bits anyway. I have received a grand total of 4 work e-mails and no requests to actually do anything.
So I'm starting to work on Sunday's sermon as my first important task. This is being interspersed with finally getting around to planning my first modelling projects. I've decided that work has to start soon on building the starter set. While doing this I can begin to research my first big project.
My first choice of modelling a local area has been shelved due to the amount of work and space it would entail. Plus it is a very imposing subject for a first attempt. So I've settled on an alternative. My plan is to build a model of Penzance to incorporate the station, goods area and loco shed. This should take up a good area but not the entire area in our empty attic area.
Now I need to read books, look at pictures and reseach trains used etc. The good thing is that Penzance hardly changed from GWR days until resignalling in the 1980's. Therefore the layout can run trains from all eras without needing great changes.
