Following yesterday's post I've decided to take things calmly and easy. So we've been waited on by our new resident cook for this weekend. Best Man was busy in the kitchen last night and is there again tonight. Today I've managed to watch 1 football match and listen to another. Watch a John Wayne film (McQ for those interested) and start work on the frame for the model railway baseboard.

You know how people tell you to take out anger on inanimate objects? Well I did a little bit of that this afternoon by sawing pieces of wood. In doing so I managed to bounce the saw off the wood and across my thumb. I've lost about a third of a nail and a small quantity of blood. There is alittle blood spot on the patio step now. Hence the title.

Serves me right for deciding to do something I've not done in quite a few years.

This brings me onto another problem....

Why do DIY shops sell wood in imperial measurements but, when you ope the packs and measure the size, turn out to be metric. Therefore my 2" x 2" wood is actually 2" x 1.75". That will explain why the 2" recesses I cut are a little too big for the wood that should fit in them.

Curse you Homebase (a UK DIY chain)!!!!!
