Today sees me starting my Spurgeon's Distance Learning course. I've decided that I'll try to do as much studying as I can while I'm away during the week. This should mean that it won't eat into the short time I have at home with FW.

My first module is entitled "Using The Bible". I gave this much thought and came up with a list of things that I could use the bible for. This ranged from proping up a wonky table to an insect killer or in the preparation of cocktails as an ice crusher. When I read the open blurb on the CD-Rom none of these things were options.

Maybe its just me but surely they're missing out here. Could it be that I'm the first person to consider more than 200 uses for the bible? However they seem to be concerned with translations, interpretation, the meaning it would have for ancient audiences and the implications for today.

I must say that this learning is much different to what I'd expected. When I submit my comprehensiove list of uses I should be in line for a 1st though I'm sure.
