Today saw me spending a few hours watching my eldest nephew take part in his first rugby match. His team lost, 4 tries to 2, but he played well and enjoyed it. Considering that this was his first rugby match, and that he had little idea as to what he should be doing, he did well. His teacher was happy that he listened to what he was told and got stuck in.

Uncle T&E was impressive in not screaming abuse at the ref, not hitting opposing supporters, tripping opposing players or invading the pitch. However at one stage I did, after the second failed kick off by he opposition, shout to the ref that we'd take the scrum at that point. He shouted something and I called back: "Only trying to help!" and he took it in good heart.

Bimble,

Ice hockey is NOT a sport. It is a minority interest pasttime that will never take off in the UK. Much like football (soccer) in the US. It's also best played by toothless, scarred, brain damaged people from remote regions of the (un)civilised earth.

True sport is:

Rugby
Football
Cricket
Athletics
Golf
Archery
Shooting
Motor Sport (not Formulaic 1)
Badger Baiting
Geek Baiting
Fox Hunting
