Do you remember when we honesty in politics? I think 1979 was the last time when Mrs T came to power. Since then we have been invaded by media consultants and "spin doctors". Now nothing can be released without it receiving a more "positive" spin.
News has emerged that the Wales Millenium Centre - otherwise known as the aardvark because of its shape - is £106m in the red. Its audits have said that it is in danger of insolvency and that the Welsh Assemby have covered this up.
However the WMV are keen to tell everyone that there is no problem and that they are in talks over refinancing their debt. These are currently underwritten by the Assembly on behalf of all us taxpayers - the majority of whom will never darken its doors. Their justification for this is that a team of independent consultants said that it was "well managed and has achieved extraordinary success." If this is the case then how can it be £106m in the red? In its original business plan it was scheduled to make a profit.
So who do we believe? Are their auditors right or the independent consutants? What will be done to remove the burden from the taxpayers? After all it is us who always end up picking up the bill for these failures.
