Quiet Time

It looks like being a busy weekend.

Best Man is visiting and staying over tonight, hurray I get to drink and not drive. Its rugby tomorrow afternooon and evening. Stroppy Boy is staying tomorrow night and into Sunday. Just glad that I don't have to go to work on Monday.

I'm hoping for a South African victory on Sunday. It would be especialy good if the England team lose the same week as their football team looked certain of failing to qualify for Euro '08. I think many prayers will need to be sent up tonight.

Yesterdays final trip to work in Birmingham was a complete waste of time. I just repeated what I'd already told them and written down for them. Mind you I did get a great leaving gift and card to celebrate my 7 years service. Oh sorry, that should read that I got absolutely **** all. Nader. Not a sausage. Zilch. Nowt. B****r all.
All those years of contributing to other people's leaving presents returned nothing. What's worse is that I was made to feel guilty if I didn't want to contribute.

Ah well!! I'm just glad to be out of there. I was told that I already looked healthier and happier from when they'd seen me the week before. Plus I did get a long chat from one of my friends who is also unhappy with the way things are there.

I also discovered that the Houston and London offices had been raided, by the Office of Fair Trading and the US Justice Department, the week before. They had computers siezed and been forced to issue an instruction to all staff not to delete any e-mails from their computers until further notice. It seems that the fixing of fuel surcharges investigation, that BA were fined $350m for last month, have moved onto the major forwarders. DHL, Schenkers and several others were all raided at the same time.

Its not the first time that my former employer have been implicated in overcharging scandals. The head of Middle East operations is currently in jail in Dubai following a similar investigation 2 years ago. The company were also fined by the US Department of Defence for overcharging last year.

I am so glad that I've now left.
