Take It Easy

For those interested we still have no outgoing phone service. We were assured that it would be reconnected today - however not yet.

Today has been one of laziness in preparation for me returning to work on Monday and FW working tomorrow. So we had a relaxed start, lunch in our pre-match cafe and then went to Newbridge to see Pontypool win again. Afterwards we went to collect our weekly organic vedge box and decided to drop into a local pub there for a post match drink.

I used to pass this pub twice a week on my weekly drives to and from work but never had chance to stop. However the owner would leave messages on the chalkboards outside - such as "I'm out of lemons. Can you get me some from town?" It turns out that its now changed hands but is a very welcoming and inviting place. They were quiet tonight and the cook was off but the manager let us try 2 bread and butter puddings. They were heaven in a bowl, absolutely delicious.

While watching the rugby FW loved a comment I made.

Newbridge were attacking and they had a break in midfield that could have led to a try. Luckily for us the pass went to one of their second row and he slowly lumbered forward but then he dropped it. To which I said: "Never put a donkey in the middle". These are of course great words of wisdom. You should never let a slow, lumbering, uncoordinated player to be in a place where you can make a quick, try scoring break. Hence the "donkey in the middle".

We then noticed that this is a trueism for many of life's decisions:

New minister
Nativity scene
Important appointment to the deacanate
Committee for a charity

"Make sure you don't put the donkey in the middle."
