She's A Model & She's Looking Good

As I was driving home tonight I was listening to the 6 o'clock news on radio 4. The first story was about the mass flooding that, thankfully, didn't happen in SE England during the night. They were saved by the surge being 20cms less than expected.

Then they were talking about the computer models that they use to predict these events. Immediately I started singing the above line from the Kraftwerk song. They're talking about something that could have killed 10's, 100's and 100's of people and I'm thinking Kraftwerk and thinking of Computer Models that look like Naomi Campbell or Erin o'Conner.

Then they talked about it being in the same magnitude as the 1953 floods that killed 350 people in eastern England and 1800 in Holland. Yet, as the report continued, they seemed to forget about the 1800 people killed in Holland. This made me think of the Not The Nine O'Clock News sketch (I think it was) in which they did a news bulletin that only highlighted events where Brits had died. At the end they say: "Oh, and an earthquake in India killed 10,000 people but none of them were English".
