I am not allowed to draw any reference to my sister's birthday today and the fact that she is nearly 40. Yes, whisper it quietly..... FORTY!!!! FORTY!!!! FORTY!!! Just one more birthday to go before she leaves her 30's behind forever.

Of course, I've promised not to draw attention to this fact - if she asks you ain't seen me right?

In other news: my mother thought that she was actually 42 this year :-)

History Today:

331BC: Alexander the Great defeats Darius III of Persia at Guagamela and becomes master of Asia Minor. Alexander never made it to forty.

1908: The Ford Model T goes on sale for the first time.

1918: The Turkish held Syrian capital, Damascus, falls to an Arab force under the command of Emir Faisal and includes one T.E. Lawrence (of Arabia).
