Thanks for the messages on yesterday's entry. I have felt for the lastb 20 years that we are cheated by our democratic system. I think that it is time that we did away with political parties and people who are "professional" politicians. We should return to a more localised democratic system where people are elected by their neighbours and represent their views above their own.
It won't happen as there are too many vested interests and passengers on the gravy train to allow it too.
In other news:
Moose, or is that Meese, have been released into the wilds in Scotland - that's the big, cold, miserable bit stick on the top of the British Isles. You know, the place where no one smiles, they speak funny and constantly moan about everything to the south. Before I forget.... Hi Chas & Jack The Lass!!!!
A Scottish landowner is introducing them to their former natural habitat. He is also planning on bringing back brown bears, lynx and wolves. He is aiming to imitate the wildlife reserves in South Africa. There is no hint that he intends to allow visitors to hunt them.
One of the reasons for the reintroduction is to enable him to help control the Red Deer population, which he claims is 2-4 times the size that can be supported in the wild. Following the demise of their natural predators their population has grown out of control.
He is not releasing them nto the wild but into a fenced 50000 acre enclosure. Local farmers are concerned at what will happen if, soory that should read when, a large predator escapes.
Today is also the 96th Anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. It is also 67 years since the German bombed Belfast - including the Harland & Woolf shipyards where the Titanic was built. Altogether close on 2000 people died in these 2 events.
In comparison - today, in 1945, the British liberated the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Many more people died here.
