I have been trying very hard not to write a rant today. I really, really want too but mustn't. I really don't want to be a blogger who unceasingly rants.
In other news:
Lima has been bringing us presents to show her affections and her skills as a feline Diana (look the reference up under Roman goddesses if you don't know).
The evening before last I could hear her ruffling about on the stairs. We had happy meeps and lots of scuttling. When FW investigated we found a small, dead mouse. When FW removed it Lima kept scuttling around trying to find it on the stairs and then went and scowled at FW for taking her toy away.
Last night Che and Lima were playing with a spider in the hall. It is very amusing watching them tentatively putting their paw onto the spider and then quickly removing it. Their attentiveness always surprises me as they seem to intently study the reactions of the spider to their prodding.
Then at 03:00 this morning FW got up to visit the powder room. She noticed that the cats seemed to be rather attentive and pre-occupied at the end of the bed. There she found that Lima had brought in another mouse. We're not sure if she actually kills them or finds them already expired - they never seem to have marks on them.
Maybe we need to engage the services of a mouse pathologist from that great TV show CSI: MICE.
History Today :
1942 : The US defeat the Japanese at the Battle of Midway and begin turning the tide of the Pacific War. I remember that Charlton Heston and Glenn Ford had a major role to play in this action. As did Kojak's assistant CROCKEEEERRRR!!!!!
1944 : The Allied forces decide to go on a day trip to France and visit the beaches at Normandy. For some rason the German deckchair attendents aren't happy and try to drive them away. Thankfully, after a hard faught 24 hours the Allies manage to break through the German defenses. Many thanks are expressed to John Wayne, Henry Fonda and Mickey Roonie for their efforts. Mr James Bond also has a small part to play - as does the Late Great Richard Burton.
1946 : The government announces that 357,116 members of the British armed forces were killed during WW2.
I wonder why the above seems to blend history and film???
