Apologies, and an update

Many apologies for my long and unintended absence. I have been very tired, but there is a good reason for this: I am pregnant! I discovered this back in April (around the time I stopped blogging) just after I started feeling sick and very tired. I even went off tea, which C says is what convinced him I was actually pregnant. So having slept for several months I am now more or less back in the saddle (metaphorically speaking, there are many things I am not allowed to do as a pregnant person and horse riding is one of them).

Baby is due on 27th December and is growing and kicking well. Due to unforseen circumstances I will probably be induced the week before Christmas (unless s/he decides to come early anyway) as s/he will need an operation as soon as s/he is born and they want to make sure there is a cot and surgeon available. Sounds eminently sensible to me, and means the surgeon can have his Christmas holidays. I'm praying that s/he comes naturally just before as induction doesn't sound like fun.

On a completely different tack, the garden has been growing, and we have had strawberries, spuds and courgettes so far. More is on the way (I hope) but though much is promised, ie plants are in the ground, little has materialised yet in the way of harvestable veg. We live in hope, and meanwhile are making the most of friends' allottments. The strawberries were particularly good this year and we managed to make 10 jars of jam with them, a modest but very satisfying achievement.
