Life of a Bean part two...

It's amazing how time flies at the moment. Don't know where it all goes. I promised to ring the Bamphires on Wednesday and have only just surfaced enough to remember (if you're reading this, sorry, I'll ring soon...). Must be all the feeding and nappy changing, not to mention Mums and Tots groups to go to. Bean is now sporting washable nappies and I get ridiculously excited by all the different kinds. She's too small for most of them, and I can't wait until she's a bit bigger and we can try them out. It would appear that having a baby addles the brain more than I thought.

This is the first week since Bean was born that we haven't got to go to the hospital. We've been going at least twice a week and have stayed in twice since being sent there by the GP on Boxing Day. Bean has DiGeorge syndrome (a small piece missing on one of her chromosomes), and this causes lots of different medical problems. The major thing at the moment is that she has a 'hole in the heart' which is making feeding difficult, and will probably need an operation to sort out. She also has some other problems which need regular checking, so we spend quite a bit of time at the hospital. She's rather small for her age (she's only in 0-3 clothes because of the nappies!) and isn't gaining weight very well so they have to keep an eye on that too. It's been a worrying time but things are improving and she is so gorgeous (not that I'm biased or anything).

Anyway, I've just been in the garden for the first time in ages and done some very therapeutic rose-bashing. The leeks and sprouting broccoli are still there but not doing much, and I've dug up the last of the carrots. The local cats are enjoying the fact that I've forgotten to cover the beds (wish they wore nappies) but I'll leave clearing it up for now and do it later (whenever that may be). I'm not sure how much we'll get done this year, we'll have to see how it goes.

Bean has now woken up and is crying so I'd better go, more of that feeding I was talking about earlier and probably a nappy change too...
