A moment to rant!

Have a feeling that this will not be a well reasoned post, but a bit of a rant!! I’m sat at the moment watching “And the band played on”, which is about the fight to find out what AIDS is and what was causing it. It is amazing how people didn’t want to, for various reason work out what was causing it. I’ve also recently watched “Cry Freedom”, which while the world knew what was going on, didn’t interfere (or did very little.) This morning I was reading about the lack of precautions taken to protect people in the 1950’s from atomic testing. It makes me wonder what is happening now, that is causing people to die, but is being covered up. What will we look back at and say, “why didn’t we stop it?”
Also on a similar theme, how do we prioritise what we here on the media. How do we know what bias the media are putting on the stories that do get reported. Today on the BBC news website one of the headlines is about a hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold that has been found. (don’t get me wrong I love history and am excited about this.) but why is this more important than people dying due to floods in Tunisia or the curfew and political unrest in Honduras? (both of which I know about thanks to friends who are there posting on facebook.)
