Well today is D-day, when I move to start studying. I will be moving about 80 miles from where I currently live. Which while not that far is far enough that I won’t be able to see people on the regular basis that I am use to. I have spent the last few days saying good bye to people, and I know that it isn’t possible to stay in contact with everybody, but that friendships change, and the good ones will survive, but often in a changed state. It will be interesting to see who I stay more in contact with, as it isn’t always who you expect. I’m grateful also that I have a reasonable amount of “online life” as this means that some friendships are not based in a locality, which will be helpful during the first few weeks especially.
Not only am I changing geographical location, but I am changing my life significantly. I will be returning to study, and at post graduate level, which I’m sure will bring both expected and unexpected challenges. I have got rid of my car, it will be the first time in eleven years I have been carless, which will bring another change to the way I live my life. I am planning to get back into cycling, something I haven’t done regularly since my teens. I’m looking forward to how this next part of my life pans out, but also sad to leave the last phase behind.
