In this blog I had my first go at adding a link! I couldn't work it out so, i've just put the link for you to follow in!! It feels a bit like I’m on a roll of moaning about singleness, but here goes again!! Watching the news this morning this article came up,(http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7984202.stm) explaining the expansion of flexible working hours for parents. I realise it’s not compulsory but just encouraged, and I’m well aware that children older than six need to have time to have a healthy relationships with parents. I would however like to present the other side of the argument. As someone who is single and in the past has worked in an environment, where there was no flexibility about how many staff were needed, and 24 hour cover was needed, (I worked in residential care.) In order to provide that flexibility to working parents, those of us who didn’t have children ended up working more unsociable hours. How do we give parents more flexibility without making people without children become second class citizens?
