As close as I have come to making a new years resolution is saying I will try and blog about once a week about a country to pray for, which isn’t in the news headlines. I am therefore going to start with Columbia. It is at the top of South America, and in common with lots of the area, when you look at the statistics it doesn’t seem too bad, for example life expediency is 73, and 89% of primary age children are in theory in school. Rather than tell you all about Columbia I am going to point you towards a page with basic information. It’s easy to read I promise!!
Prayer points
• For good relations with the USA which are clear and transparent to all. (The USA have a history of shall we just say slightly murky dealing in Latin America)
• That a political and not a military solution will be found to the situation
• For those standing up for what they believe that they will not be targeted
• For the cocaine growing to be tackled (this is particularly important as it may be in some peoples interested to continue the conflict to allow for cocaine growing)
• For those who have been traumatised

That will hopefully give you a few ideas, the main point of these is to raise awareness, rather than to have lots of prayer points.
