Christmas eve found me going to the Anglican church local to my parents for midnight mass. The church is what passes for high Anglican in the area with "bells and smells". It was a beautiful and "overworldly" service reminding me of the awe and wonder of God choosing to be born on earth and be a helpless child. A God who chose to leave the majesty and awesomeness of heaven behind, to live (and die) here on earth for us. This morning found me at my parents church which is low church independent. Where we had "messy Christmas". This consisted of a "crib" in the middle of the church (we were sat round in a circle.) round which the children sprinkled straw, and chocolate raisins (to represent you know what.) and we were reminded that Jesus was not born in to a neat and tidy world. We then thought about what we could offer to Jesus as a present. Over all it balanced out nicely and was glad I had been to the service which reminds me of the awe and majesty of God, but a God who was willing to born into and live within a messy world. In other news, spent a happy hour this afternoon playing "Abba singstar" with my sister-in-law and her sister.
