Where i live we have a by-election, and is usually the case with by-elections there are lots of options of who to vote for. While most of the leaftlets which we've had threw the door has annoyed me, because they basicly say vote for me becasue so and so is rubbish.I'd have liked to see some slightly more positve campaining. As ever there have been one or two who have amused and bemused me. Included in the who to vote for options, is a canditate who wants no second homes for MP's and instead state owned big brother style houses for MP's. Also one of the candiadtes thinks that "braveheart Wallace" was about 300 years ago, who I felt wasn't worth reading on, if they had difficulty with even basic things like that.
I also realised how scary and intimidating can be. By the time i got to going to the polling station it was dark. It was in the local school, which is Victorian, so has a brick wall with railings. Meaning that the entrance to the playground isn't that wide. There were about 15 people trying to hand you leaflets, tell you who to vote for and generaly make it difficult to get to the entrance (i don't think that was there plan, but it was still happening.) On the actual door, just incase there was a police men, adding to the air that trouble was expected. (There wasn't any trouble while i was there.) Now to wait and see who wins.
