Home brew, comedy presents and chocolate boobs...

Thanks to those of you who showed concern for my Man Flu; I'm pleased to report that it has abated to a fairly minor Man Cold now. Thankfully, it hasn't stopped me getting up to all kinds of seasonal shenanigans*. I went to lunch with some old friends yesterday (more of which in my next post - I'll warn you now, it may contain navel-gazing), and saw most of them again today at church, along with one or two more who I hadn't seen in a while. And it's been nice spending time with the family today - Tina and Spike drove up from That London, and grandad also came up for lunch as usual. We had the traditional turkey/veg/gravy combo, following which those who liked Christmas pudding had Christmas pudding, and those who didn't had some kind of chocolate ice cream thing which, as my mother was quick to point out, looked disturbingly like a breast.

After lunch, we got round to the present-opening. This part of the day isn't usually very exciting for me - I'm at that age now where I don't really know what I want, and I'm not easy to buy little odd gifts for, so I tend to get money, which isn't that exciting to unwrap really - but Tina and Spike came up trumps with two fantastic gifts. The first was a book of photos of clouds that have formed in interesting or amusing patterns - resembling things like dragonflies, skateboarders, six-legged pigs and most fantastically of all Basil Brush. The second was a pogo stick. I didn't know they still made pogo sticks; technically it seems to be a child's stick, but I suspect that won't stop me having a go on it when I get home, or possibly before. (amusingly, the packaging tells me I must wear protective clothing when using it; Spike suggests a hard hat and high visibility jacket, both of which I have at work, so maybe I need to take the stick there...)

This evening has been chilled in front of the TV drinking Spike's home-brewed beer. Good times. And tomorrow we all get to have a lie-in... :D

*one of my housemates uses the word "shenanigans" all the time, I think it might be starting to rub off on me...
