All is quiet on New Year's Day...

Happy New Year to you, whether you're a regular reader of my ramblings or just clicked on something by accident and now find yourself here. I hope it's going to be a good one for all of us.

So, the time has flown since Christmas (which is bizarre, as I haven't really done much with it). Got back home on Friday and proceeded to take it rather easy over the weekend. On Sunday morning instead of a service we had a church walk around a large country park type place, but I decided to wuss out of the main three-and-a-half-mile trek and instead opted to do a short wander through the woods with a pregnant woman and a not-quite-two-year-old. Then - oh joy - I'd drawn the short straw and was one of only four people (out of about 25) in our office on NYE. And for the big night itself, I went round to K's house for a murder mystery party, where my character had the unfortunate name of Huges Le Grandbutte (I'm not taking it personally that this character was picked for me). There was some fantastic characterisation and lots of dodgy accents - most people were supposed to be either French or German, and at times it did resemble a particularly ropey episode of 'Allo 'Allo - and many laughs were had; then at midnight we went out into the garden to watch the many sets of fireworks going off in the surrounding area, and then went back inside to watch Jools Holland. Good times.

So, what of 2008? Well, I've never really been big on making resolutions, but I want to make some changes in my life this year. Not necessarily big things, but little annoying things that I know I ought to do and just don't get round to doing. And in order to do those, I intend to spend less time sitting in front of the TV staring at my laptop (he types, while sitting in front of the TV staring at his laptop). So I should now get out of here and have a shower - my hair is still slicked back in character from last night, and I look a bit like Ricky Gervais, which may or may not be a good thing, I'm not entirely sure; either way, it feels a bit horrible, so I'm off to sort it out.

Welcome to 2008 people...
