And now, by popular demand...

...here's the longer term plan stuff I've been banging on about in vague terms for a while.

So, you may remember that around the start of the year I was saying that I was feeling like it was time to move on from here, and that I was planning to move down to Auntie Doris' neck of the woods. Then, a little while back, you'll recall that particular plan going a bit pear-shaped, and me wondering what I was going to do now, but still suggesting that I'd be heading away from Brum. Well, since then I've thought, I've prayed, I've ummed and I've aahed about what to do. I've entertained the possibility of moving to London, I've very very briefly entertained the possibility of going back to Cambridge, and I've wondered how soon I could get away from Brum. So, imagine my surprise when I got the vibe from God that He didn't actually want me to go anywhere, but to stay in Brum a while longer. Are you imagining that surprise? Good.

Yes, it's rather odd, given that I really felt like I should be leaving, but in the last month or so God's really stirred up my passion for this place again - for the people, for the church, for my friends, and most of all for the youth group I work with. It's such a privilege to be involved in nurturing and encouraging these guys as they try to find their identity, their place in the world, and their own understanding of and relationship with God. It's all rather exciting, and right now I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be.

So there you have it - the long term plan (for the foreseeable future at least) is to stick around here and get more involved in stuff. I don't know what God's got planned in the coming weeks/months/years, but I'm really looking forward to finding out. Bring. It. On.

(apologies if you caught this when there was only about a sentence and a half here - I'm hoping God will also teach me how to not press buttons that will post things before you've finished writing them...)
