Still on a high

Yes, I'm still floating, but it's now finally beginning to sink in that I've actually passd and that, soon, I'll be working as an instructor. I don't know when yet, and I'm not handing in my notice just yet until I know for certain when I'm starting, but I've told my boss my intention. He was grateful for that, because it means they have time to train a new person. Well, they've been totally fair with me while I've been working there, so it's only right that I play fair with them.

As to when I can start, I'm meeting the owner of the driving school tomorrow evening to try and work out a timetable. The only problem is that he has moved the goalposts with regard to the money I have to pay him for my training. Initially (all that time ago) he had said that he would take it in weekly instalments out of my earnings which is fair enough, but now he's saying he wants the lot up front before I can start. I'm in absolutely no position to do that, so I think a little negotiating is in order.

Current work with the vermin still goes on. I'm on the emergency callout this weekend. That means I have to make myself available should anyone phone, but when they find out how much it costs for a weekend callout, they suddenly decide that the problem isn't that bad after all and it can wait til Monday. I had a call this morning though from a pub that's not one of our regular customers. My quote for the callout was greeted with a sharp intake of breath, but he insisted that he really did need someone today, so I took his credit card details and set off in my little white van.

I felt really sorry for the guy when I got there. He's just bought the pub and took it over yesterday. When he got up this morning, he found a rat running around in the bar. New business, no pest control contract, he panicked. Well, I did what I could and I'll pass his details to the office for them to set up a service contract for him. I'll get the commission on that!

S'all for now. The beloved and I are going out for a meal tonight to celebrate my total and utter brilliance!
