New motor, new wiblog

At long last, things are beginning to move. After my disastrous attempt to become a driving instructor two years ago and finally passing my Part 2 test last month, I am now ready to go and I've got 5 pupils booked already.

Yesterday I picked up the new car. Absolutely brand spanking new, straight out of the showroom with that "new car" smell inside. This afternoon I take it to the garage to get the dual controls fitted and take my first pupil out tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I only get to keep this car for a couple of days. The intention is that the boss man has this car and I get his existing one, but as it's only 5 months old, it's as good as having a new car. Mind you, given the hours he works, I wouldn't be surprised if it's already been round the clock twice! As he has a pupil taking her test on Friday, he wants her to take it in the car she's been learning in rather than have her get used to a different car on the day of the test, so I at least get to kepp this one til Friday evening.

The insurance cover means that The Beloved will be able to drive it - very handy if I need a lift home from the pub! The last time she drove was on honeymoon two years ago, and she's never driven in London, so I will take the opportunity to give her some refresher lessons. Now I know that husband/wife instructor/pupil relationships are doomed to failure, so this will be a great test on my patience for when I'm let loose with real paying pupils. Either that, or we just kill each other.
